The plan at a glance

Four priorities guide the work.

The public labels below use plain language. The formal plan’s “Practice Concerns” priority is presented here as “Veterinary Workforce and Practice Health.”

A sustainable association

Structure and Governance

Strengthen policies, financial planning, leadership development, and succession so NMVMA can serve members for the long term.

A stronger sense of belonging

Member Engagement

Build a welcoming statewide community, communicate in useful ways, and create education and participation that fit real schedules.

Formal plan: Practice Concerns

Veterinary Workforce and Practice Health

Help attract and retain veterinary professionals, share practical support, and address barriers affecting practices and access to care.

A clear statewide voice

Legislative Advocacy

Listen for emerging issues, keep members informed, and represent veterinary perspectives with policymakers and partners.

The Power of We connects every priority by turning strategy into belonging, contribution, and shared action.

How the plan feels

Power of We is the member experience—not a fifth pillar.

The four priorities explain what NMVMA must strengthen. The Power of We explains how people should experience that work: welcomed into a professional home, connected to peers, supported by practical resources, invited to contribute, and represented by a shared voice.

Belong. Contribute. Thrive. is the promise that keeps the plan human.

Progress and accountability

How NMVMA will report progress.

The Board reviews the plan and organizational priorities regularly. NMVMA uses member feedback, participation, learning results, resource use, advocacy engagement, financial health, and partner outcomes to understand what is working and where attention is needed.

Public updates should use dated results and plain language. They should never confuse a planned activity with a completed outcome.

Need the implementation detail?

The companion brief explains objectives, roles, funding boundaries, and the indicators NMVMA will use to track progress.

106responses to the 2025 Practice Census and CE Needs Survey
51conversations in NMVMA’s 2025–26 listening work
3CE programs delivered from April through July 2026

These dated measures show listening and activity, not every outcome. NMVMA will connect future public updates to what changed, what people used, and what the organization learned.

One useful next step

Choose the next path that fits.
