Dear Colleagues,
Our Power of We initiative has made one thing clear: no one person or organization can protect veterinary medicine alone. It takes all of us—veterinarians, technicians, students, and allies—standing shoulder to shoulder to safeguard our profession and expand what’s possible in New Mexico.
This is one of those moments that calls all of us to the table.
We’ve made real progress—together—but the challenges ahead will require even more unity, courage, and heart.
Here’s where we are today:
- We’re accountable. Our new Impact Scorecard tracks real progress on the NMVMA Strategic Plan and shows how we’re stewarding your membership investment.
- We’re leading. We’re in active conversations on license portability—work that could help attract more veterinarians and expand access to care across the state.
- We’re showing up. At SWVS.25, our New Mexico Lounge became a hub of connection, pride, and visibility for our community.
- We’re building awareness. A statewide public campaign launches early next year to help New Mexicans understand the essential role veterinary professionals play in public health, agriculture, and everyday life.
- We’re listening. Two new feedback surveys will open soon to ensure our priorities reflect yours.
Now, I’m asking every one of you to lean in:
- Join or renew your NMVMA membership. Every voice strengthens our advocacy and impact.
- Share your insights. Your feedback helps shape the future of veterinary medicine in New Mexico.
- Support the next generation. Complete our new survey to tell us how you can help support our largest-ever cohort of newly recruited student members. Your mentorship and encouragement can make all the difference.
- Show up in small ways. A few minutes can make a big impact — attend a local event, connect a colleague, or lend your voice to support veterinary medicine in New Mexico.
- Speak out. Tell your story—whether to legislators, clients, or online. Your voice gives power to our message.
We’re not just protecting today’s practice—we’re building the future of veterinary medicine in New Mexico. I’m proud to serve alongside you, and I believe deeply in what we can achieve together.
Let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work.
Together, we are the Power of We.
With gratitude and determination,
Dr. Adena Robertson
President, NMVMA
